How to Photograph Your Work for Maximum Impact
When you add your own photos, follow these guidelines to get the best results — both for customers and for Google image search.
Good Lighting
Natural light or a simple LED work light. Avoid direct flash directly at shiny metal surfaces — it washes out the detail. Angle the light slightly to show surface finish and machined features.
Descriptive File Names
Name files like cnc-milling-aluminum-bracket-south-jersey.jpg — not IMG_4802.jpg. The filename is read by Google and helps photos appear in image search for your services.
Show the Scale
Include a ruler, caliper, or a common object for scale. Customers and engineers want to see how big (or small) the part is at a glance.
Close-Ups of Critical Features
Threads, surface finishes, bores, and precision fits tell the real story of your quality. Get close enough that the feature fills the frame.
Before and After (Heads)
For cylinder head work especially, a "before and after" pair is incredibly effective — the warped head vs. the resurfaced head makes the value immediately visible to customers researching the service.
Shop Shots
Photos of the machines, the measurement tools, and the shop floor build credibility. Customers hire people, not just capabilities — showing the environment builds trust.
